Violinists Trina Basu and Arun Ramamurthy reimagine the potential of string chamber music for our global times. The New York City duo explores beauty found at the intersections of their musical paths, where original compositions weave together threads of South Indian classical, Western chamber music, jazz and creative improvisation. Varying colors, shapes and sounds emerge from the ensemble with their esteemed collaborators, who have included cellists Marika Hughes and Jake Charkey, percussionists Dan Kurfirst and Rich Stein, bassist Rashaan Carter and guitarist Shane Parish. Trina and Arun have been playing music together since 2007 and formed this duo project in 2016. Their divergent musical journeys have been central to their work together as creative performers. The duo's forthcoming album, "Nakshatra" will be released later this year. Both are founding members of musicians collective Brooklyn Raga Massive, and live in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn with their two sons.
