Sai Raman - Tabla

Description:
Anand began his initial training in Carnatic flute under the tutelage of Sri V.K. Raman, a senior disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. N Ramani. Shortly afterward Anand began to concurrently study Hindustani music under the tutelage of Sri Deepak Ram, a senior disciple of Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. With the blessings and recommendation of his Gurus, Anand was accepted as a disciple of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia and continually studies with him in his Gurukul in Mumbai, India. In the past, Anand has played in numerous recordings. fusion, ghazal, dance programs and solo classical concerts in both USA and India.

Sai Raman started learning Tabla in Mumbai at the age of six from Shri Sirish Poddar and Pandit Shripat Jail. Since his early days, he has been playing Tabla for Bhajans, Abhangs, and Ghazals. He went on to accompany various artists from the Carnatic and Hindustani domains, while also pursuing the art of solo tabla playing. Raman enjoys working with other genres of music like progressive rock, Bollywood, Jazz and Electronic music. He is currently being tutored by Shri Muthu Kumar from Bangalore, who is a disciple of Ustad Alla Rakha and Ustad Zakir Hussain.
